It seems like every time I visit a Book Store, the top selling author is some type of'Hollywood Star'A-List' celebrity who has published a new book that is going to sell like hotcakes. No one appears to be doing much else but writing books and selling them . This is strange, since most of us know that book stores have an incredible depth of knowledge and interest in the authors and works they carry.
Recently I attended a Marketing Conference for the Marketing Industry. 1 thing that struck me was how out of touch the major publishers are with the preferences of the average reader. The conference was going on during Super Bowl week, so it was evident that the best sales people were there.
They spoke about how important it is to promote children's novels, and the hottest selling children's books of the year. Everybody involved in Children's Books believes it's their job to generate the biggest blockbuster ever, not the most popular book in the current market. The older generation won't read books for children, and younger readers will only see one book a month if any at all.
But the moment the conference was finished, I realized I'd forgotten what I had learned in school about the Traditional Values and Family Values I did not understand. I remembered that I wanted to make sure that when I was producing my next Children's Book, it would tell a story that was meaningful to my young audience. I had a feeling that if I took a few minutes and really explored the possibilities I would get an idea of what I should be writing.
As I entered the bookstore, the first book I noticed was with a Christian Writer. Not only was the cover amazing, but it was also written by a bestselling Christian Writer. A Christian author was not traditionally permitted to write for kids, but there he was, making $30,000 a month book available to millions of readers all around the world. After I noticed this particular title, I realized that it was not only possible, but something which I should be considering doing.
As I walked into the Children's Book section, the best selling book was a wonderful story about a group of friends in the Christian faith who were carrying an interesting journey. The book contained strong moral lessons, but it was written to be appreciated with a Christian Family. In fact, this writer seemed to know exactly what his target audience wanted.
The author, John Stanley, has worked with both large and small Publishers, in addition to non-profit associations, and has been featured in many publications, and radio programs. He has even spoken to many national leaders on the issues of business, social and religious freedoms.
His goal with the book was to create a book that is funny, inspiring, and educational. Children's Book Publishers is well known in his community that he wants to educate his community concerning Biblical principles. I instantly knew that this author was going to be a success.
When I stepped into the books aisle, I realized that this new book I had come across was probably the book he would be publishing. The cover showed two friends, who have been non-believers, playing soccer in the snow.
The book title,"Life is like a Football" was clever, since it revealed two famous atheists playing with a excellent sport. The author went so far as to include poetry in the Bible on the inside cover.
If you have ever wanted to publish a Christian-themed book, or one with a more spiritual motif, then John Stanley might be the writer for you. His success can be attributed to his new age approach to producing his Christian book. He was able to use his creativity and knowledge of publishing techniques to create a book that appealed to a wide assortment of Christian viewers.
I had been impressed with his new age approach to publishing, and as he was not a person who has a lot of experience in publishing, I was happy to work with him on this project. He's also an avid film maker and knows how to promote his product in order to reach the broadest audience possible. When it comes to turning a creative idea into a real life long profitable item, there are very few of us that come close to John Stanley.
